Important Information for Parents of Overseas Students

overseas-student-graduation

We want to do everything in our power to ensure your child as a great experience, but more importantly, that they are protected and cared for well. Your child may think they are indestructible, but we both know that is not true. Please see below for some important information for parents of overseas students.

Health insurance for international students is important because the host nation’s medical insurance (even nationalized health care in Europe) will not cover your child. Many of us here at Good Neighbor Insurance have had loved ones on the other side of the ocean, so we understand what it’s like to want your loved ones to have the best care possible.

Here are some benefits our plans offer:

  • You can visit your child if something unfortunate were to happen to them.
  • We can ensure they have access to clean facilities and good quality medical care.
  • For as little as $1 USD/day you could avoid serious debt if anything tragic were to happen.
  • Some of our plans offer Direct Pay. Direct Pay is a program in which the clinic/hospital is networked with the insurance so they know your plan. Instead of paying the entire medical bill upfront and then getting reimbursed later, you are only charged with the portion you owe, not the entire bill. The claims process can be a headache and can be very slow, and this will save you from having to deal with that.
